Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brasil - VOTORANTIM CELULOSE E, recently commissioned their new CLC- 7000TM high speed cylindrical laboratory coater. VCP is a major producer of coated and uncoated printing and writing papers, including specialty grades for thermal and carbonless copying. The CLC will be used for developing improved grades at both their Piracicaba and Jacarei mills.VCP's CLC-7000 was purchased with coating applicators to emulate blade, rod and short dwell time coaters. VCP's CLC, serial number 53, is the first laboratory device capable of coating at 7000 feet per minute (2200 meters per minute). It's predecessor, the CLC-6000, has become the World Standard in the Industry, helping now 53 companies around the world to solve coated paper and coating materials development and technical service issues.
The CLC-7000 upgrade package will become available as a retrofit for all CLC-6000 coaters.
Colombia, South America - Prominerales, S.A., the newest supplier of natural calcium carbonate pigments, has installed their CLC-6000 high speed laboratory coater. Prominerales will supply an ultra pure product with an unusual crystalline structure, extreme purity and high natural brightness from South America to customers in mid- North America. The CLC-6000 will be key in their efforts to demonstrate the performance of their pigments for paper coating. Georgia, USA - ENGELHARD CORPORATION added a new Pressurized Pond Applicator, and reports increased coating speed with good runnability, and at least 1 additional pound of coat weight and reduction in banding. Illinois, USA - ONDEO NALCO (formerly GEO SPECIALTY CHEMICALS) installed a new Rod Coating Assembly (RCA), becomming the first customer to have all available coating applicators.The RCA will help Geo, a supplier of a broad range of coating additives, to demonstrate products for their customers, especially those who use Rod Coaters.
Japan - OJI PAPER*/ KASUGAI MILL, took delivery of their CLC-6000™ high speed laboratory coater. Oji Paper is one of the largest paper makers in Japan and this CLC-6000 is the 3rd CLC for Oji Paper. Oji Paper selected the Pressurized Pond Assembly (PPA) option. The PPA will allow them to study coatings at speeds above 1,500 m/min. * - Web Site is in Japanese.
Japan - SAN NOPCO, took delivery of their CLC-6000™ high speed laboratory coater. San Nopco is an important additive supplier in Japan. This CLC-6000 will replace an older laboratory coater. The PPA option was selected by San Nopco so that they can test coating formulations at the higher speeds.
Maine, USA - UNIVERSITY OF MAINE, installed the Rod Coater Assembly option. The RCA will expand their research capability and allow them to service rental customers more completely.
Colmar, France - RICOH INDUSTRIE FRANCE S.A., started up their CLC-6000 high speed laboratory coater. Ricoh, a world leader in the production of high quality thermal paper, purchased their first CLC-6000 for their laboratory in Japan. Because of the success of this first CLC-6000 Ricoh has expanded their laboratory in France in order to maintain their quality position in thermal paper in Europe.
Paris, France - Raisio Chemicals, Latexia France , started up their CLC-6000 high speed laboratory coater. Raisio Chemicals is a world class chemical supplier and an important supplier of latex to the coated paper industry. This CLC-6000 is the second CLC for the Latexia Group, the first being is in Brazil. Raisio, France said they purchased this CLC-6000 to help them quickly and effectively evaluate the potential of new latex products prior to testing on pilot coaters.
Suzhou, China - Stora Enso Suzhou completed the startup of their CLC-6000 high speed laboratory coater, with training on both their blade coating head and the new Rod Coating head. Stora Enso Suzhou will be China's most modern coated paper mill and is the only paper mill in China with high speed pilot coater capability. The CLC-6000 will play an important role in the development of Stora Enso Suzhou's coated papers.
