How does the
CLC-6000 operate?
With training provided by SimuTech International, your
operator can easily apply coatings at up to the design speed of 1900 m/min. (6000
ft/min.)? Here is what he/she does to complete a run:
- With the safety cover open, attach a piece of base paper that is 3.3 meters long and 50
to 100 cm wide to the rubber covered backing roll using adhesive tape.
- Place the coating head on the pond carriage and clamp it in place using the POND CLAMP
switch.
- Set the speed, drying parameters and adjust for coat weight.
- Pour the experimental coating into the coating head.
- Close the safety cover.
- Press the START button.
The CLC-6000 then performs all the prescribed
steps of the automatic cycle:
- Bringing the backing roll up to the preset speed.
- Adjusting the moisture content of the base sheet using the preset drying parameters.
- Bringing the pond carriage up to synchronous speed, moving the coating head up against
the backing roll, opening the pond shutter and moving the coating head across the paper
width, producing a coated helix that is 140 mm wide and about 12 meters long.
- Closing the pond shutter, moving the pond away from the backing roll and stopping the
pond carriage.
- Drying the wet coating using the preset drying parameters.
- Safely stopping the backing roll once the drying cycle is finished.
When the backing roll is stopped, the operator opens the safety cover, removes the
coated paper from the backing roll and cuts coated paper strips to the proper length for
calendering and testing.
It takes only one operator to safely complete many runs per day!
